Oh...
Hmm.. glitch here again, they will have to build a new school or these ideas wont ever go through, and when they do... where???
If they can find a place for another walmart they can find a place for schools.
You'll shoot your eye out.

Was it just cosmetic changes that got the 7th grade wing at Pound torn down? Or was it the crumbling structure, the wiring, the plumbing, etc.? (And no they didn't tear it down because they expanded JW Adams. They had the JW Adams expansion include accomodating the 7th grade students because the wing was becoming dangerous for occupancy. They tried for years and years to salvage that building but it couldn't be saved.)
[/ QUOTE ]
The 7th Grade building at Pound was an example of poor planning and construction.. it was built on fill dirt (leading to bad cracks in the walls, etc etc and had asbestos in it. Lets remember that this was a seperate building, NOT A WING... built several years later than the main school.
Therefore... it was newer!!! Gee, what better example could I have of a newer building being poorer quality and in worse shape than an older one. Thanks, Indian_Dad!
I never once said anything against the 7th grade building being torn down, it had major problems, but the main school does not.
Another great example... if the new addition at JW Adams is any example of what "new schools" will look like, then I advise everyone in favor of new schools to go take a look at it. It isn't that great. The floors are uneven (wavy), there are already a couple of cracks in the wall I think, the wiring is inadequate, especially when it comes to the networking cables for the computers and access to electrical outlets. And it doesn't look that much better overall than the rest of the building at JWA, or the High School either. (The ONLY highlight of the JWA addition is the auditorium, which is nice.)
Any of this sounding familiar yet??? It shounds to me like the same garbage Im hearing in favor of closing down our older high schools.

That building wasn't exactly "new." It was built back well before lead paint and asbestos were outlawed (I know.. they were removing the asbestos when I was a 7th grader). It was older than me. And remember, I'm "ancient and decrepit."

This is beyond unfair for the students that cannot afford the tuition of a college class while in high school.
AP Classes provided by the public school system in the schools are free.
AP Classes should not be reseverved for the financially privileged. AP Classes provided for free in high school help the underprivileged (yet intelligent) students compete for financial aid in college.
[/ QUOTE ]
AP classes are already available in all the high schools. I believe Ive already said this (how many?) times???

A bus could get them there but tell me who's going to pay for that.
[/ QUOTE ]
If the school system will pay for a bus to send the shop students to Wise, then dont you think the college bound students should be allowed the same priveleges?
Where's the hole??

Im still waiting for someone to tell me where these schools should be built. Down town wise? The INN?

Build the new Wise/Pound school in Haddonfield.. and maybe all the Wise people will get lost finding it haha

AP English and AP History. TWO lousy classes.
My argument is that more should be available.
Remember, I was just arguing your grand plan to just bus the students to the college. That was your idea. That was your fix all. I called you out on it and then you backtrack.

"Shop" (or the Vocational/Technical School Classes) is free to high school students. That's the difference. That's the hole. It's not the same privilege when one is free and one isn't.

Is this supposed to be a serious response? From someone who thinks the almighty march of progress is God's gift to SWVA? It was newer than the original high school building. So by your logic then that makes it irrevocably better.. just because it was newer?
